In Chiclana de la Frontera on the dreamy Costa de la Luz, you won't find a Starbucks on every corner – but there are cozy, owner-run cafes serving regional products and a handful of coworking spaces. But which locations are really worthwhile? We have done extensive research and tried them out for you.
Digital Nomads in Chiclana de la Frontera
At Soulwork, we believe that first-class working conditions in your own accommodation are essential to getting through the daily grind of a successful workation in a productive and relaxed manner. While a noisy café or an expensive coworking space can provide a little variety from time to time, working there permanently often means extra costs, additional travel and more stress than is actually necessary.
Nevertheless, we also love to treat ourselves to a creamy cappuccino next to our laptop in a cozy atmosphere, a brunch with a sea view or to enjoy the community in a chic coworking space every now and then – especially after a few days of home office. In this article, we will reveal to you which cafés and coworking spaces are particularly charming. Have fun discovering them!
Chiclana is geographically divided into the popular beach section La Barrosa with the neighboring districts Novo Sancti-Petri, Sancti Petri and Los Gallos, and the center of Chiclana, which is about 15 minutes from the beaches. Most of the fincas and apartments in our selection are located near these popular beach sections.
Brunch cafes in La Barrosa and the surrounding area
The beach promenade is lined with nice beach cafés and chiringuitos. Our favorites for a coffee or brunch:
Ohana Surf Bar (La Barrosa Playa)
Modern, bright chiringuito on the promenade. We recommend the breakfast and the rest of the cuisine, often Spanish dishes in their own interpretation.
You can sit and enjoy the magnificent view of the sea and the coast as far as Roche. The restaurant is very popular and can get a bit noisy at weekends and in the high season.
The café is open all week from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and is open all year round.
Benefits:
- Kitchen is open throughout from 12:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. – a rarity in the area.
- Beautiful interior design with lots of light.
- Magnificent view over the beach and the coast to Roche.
- Long opening hours without a siesta break.
Points to consider:
- The breakfast menu is only valid until 12 noon.
- Weekends and high season can be very noisy, and outdoor seating fills up quickly.
Conclusion: One of the most beautiful locations on the promenade. Considering the great location and modern furnishings, it is rather affordable. Those who like it a bit more lively can enjoy a relaxed brunch with a sea view from here. If you are not sensitive to noise, you can work remotely from here for a few hours – for our taste, it is occasionally too loud for concentrated work.

La Rúcula (La Barrosa Playa)
Another nice café/restaurant at the end (or beginning) of the promenade, depending on which direction you are coming from. Surrounded by bars, restaurants and cafés, there is always something going on here. They offer a simple but tasty breakfast selection and good coffee (vegan milk options are also available). The prices are very fair, so you will usually stay under €10 per person for coffee and breakfast.
Wi-Fi is shared on request. In our experience, digital nomads with laptops are welcome and can also work remotely. However, the restaurant is closed for a few months during the winter; the exact reopening date for 2025 was not known at the time of writing.
Benefits:
- Breakfast and brunch served until 2 p.m.
- Parking spaces just around the corner.
- Large outdoor area with plenty of seating options – it's often easy to find a free seat.
- Lively atmosphere thanks to the surrounding bars, street artists and the playground on the beach.
- Very fair breakfast prices.
Keep in mind:
- Due to the surrounding bars, there is a certain noise level.
- Simple menu.
- Vegan options are not indicated separately.
Conclusion: Ideal for those who want to check their first emails after a morning walk on the beach, with a sea view.

Selvâtika Café (La Barrosa)
The small Selvâtika café with a large outdoor terrace is just a few minutes' walk from the beach. The kitchen impresses with an unusual selection of savory and sweet breakfast dishes. The coffee specialties are also recommended.
Digital nomads are welcome, Wi-Fi is provided on request. In our experience, the signal even reaches the outdoor terrace.
The café is closed for a few months over the winter and reopens at the end of February in 2025, for example.
Benefits:
- Breakfast and brunch until 2 p.m.
- Fancy menu with delicious tostadas, bowls and coffees.
- Large outdoor area where you can usually find a seat spontaneously, even at the weekend.
- Nomads welcome, Wi-Fi is shared.
- Occasional events with brunch and yoga.
- Fair prices.
To be considered:
- Facing the busier road (but tolerable due to the pavement and speed limit).
- Closed for a few months over the winter.
- No designated vegan options.
Conclusion: One of our favorite spots for brunch in La Barrosa – often combined with a surf session or a walk on the beach. If you love “instagrammable” fruit bowls, avocado toast and smoothies, this is the place for you.
Giaviolo Coffee & More (La Barrosa)
If you follow the road from the Selvâtika Café towards the center of town, you will come to Giaviolo Coffee & More after about a kilometer. It is a simple, nice café with Andalusian breakfast and good coffee at fair prices.
The restaurant is open on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Breakfast is served until 12:30 p.m., followed by Andalusian tapas dishes.

Benefits:
- Relaxed atmosphere.
- Parking in front of the door.
- Nomads are welcome.
- Long opening hours without a siesta break.
Keep in mind:
- No Wi-Fi available.
- No designated vegan options.
Conclusion: A traditional café with friendly staff and rather typical Spanish cuisine. If you have mobile Wi-Fi and live nearby, you should give Giaviolo a try.
Nature – Café del Sur (Los Gallos)
This café is located on the roadside of Carretera de la Barrosa in Los Gallos. It is often very busy, but the Google and Tripadvisor ratings are somewhat mixed. We have not had any negative experiences ourselves: the food was delicious and the prices very fair. We particularly like the selection of healthy breakfast options.
Digital nomads with laptops are welcome, but again, there is no Wi-Fi. Mobile internet is therefore advisable.
Pros:
- Lively atmosphere.
- Parking right outside.
- Healthy breakfast.
- Nomads welcome.
To consider:
- The decor could do with a makeover.
- Mixed reviews online.
- On a busy road (albeit separated by a side street).
- No Wi-Fi.
Conclusion: Those staying in Los Gallos can enjoy a healthy breakfast or work for a few hours here, provided they bring their own Wi-Fi.

But if you look around a bit, you will quickly find what you are looking for – as in Chiclana de la Frontera – and can then look forward to fair prices and often great views.
The coworking spaces in Chiclana are not necessarily ideal for digital nomads who only have short breaks or want to drop in spontaneously due to seasonal openings and long lunch breaks (siesta). In addition, they are all located in the city center, so additional travel time and parking fees may apply from the beach.

And if you do feel like a change of scenery, you now have plenty of addresses at hand to find the perfect café or coworking location in Chiclana.
