As part of its annual FTTH Conference, it publishes market reports on the fiber-optic expansion of various nations worldwide. Since 2024, Spain has taken the lead in fiber-optic expansion in Europe with a penetration rate of 78.9%, replacing Iceland (75.2%) as the long-standing frontrunner.
Only FTTH (fiber to the home) and FTTB (fiber to the building) connections were considered for the evaluation.
By way of comparison, the United Arab Emirates is ahead of Singapore (97.1%), Hong Kong (95.3%), China (92.9%) and South Korea (91.5%) worldwide with a penetration rate of 99.3%.
Even in rural areas, Spain is at the forefront!
